A brief history of Traces on the Cumberland

Traces on The Cumberland was the vision of Gar and Brenda Whicker. Both of which have a passion for fishing and the great outdoors. Captain Gar Whicker chose to move from Indiana in 1990 to Cumberland County, Kentucky. He and his wife Brenda reside on the Cumberland River at mile marker 422.5, Mr. Whicker has been a boater for over fifty years. He has traveled the lower Cumberland in jon boats, cruisers, airboats, runabouts, wave runners, and even a tug pushing two barges. He is a licensed pharmacist, master captain, licensed guide, and licensed power parachute instructor. He has traveled over 7000 miles on America’s Rivers and currently spends his free time on the Cumberland.  The property is located about halfway between Wolf Creek Dam and the Tennessee State Line. It is conveniently located just 2.5 miles from the town of Burkesville where you will find town square, local eateries and shops. The river location is spectacular from a fishing access standpoint. Gar also published a book that is currently still available for purchase.
